6-MAM is an opioid drug extracted from the opium plants, especially from the seed pods in the southeast and southwest Asia, Mexico, and Columbia. 6-MAM produces a fast-reacting euphoric effect on the body, and hence it has greater chances of both psychological and physical dependency. 6-MAM is called by the street names - Big H, Thunder, Smack, Chiva, etc., and they appear in brown, white, and black (black tar 6-MAM) colors.

6-MAM Abuse
6-MAM is one of the most popular drugs among recreational users. A slight overdose or abuse of the drug may lead to harmful effects and consequences, even death. Repeated 6-MAM usage may cause physiological and psychological changes that will lead to long-term neural and hormonal changes that are hard to reverse. The U.S Government has listed the drug under Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.

Treatment
Naloxone treatment would be the best binding way to treat 6-MAM and other opioid addiction. Naloxone will bind to the brain receptors and remove the opioid receptors from the brain.
To prevent withdrawal symptoms, the FDA-approved lofexidine will be helpful to treat opioid withdrawal symptoms. For some abusers, a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone are used. They both have the same level of effectiveness
